The auto functions (auto scouting, auto trading, auto attack and recruiting) only work approximately once every 3 hours, randomly between 2 and 4 hours, and only when you are offline. They do not operate continually.

Auto scouting and auto attacking also only work within your own parish, so if there is no stash or AI within the parish at that time no scouts or armies will be sent out.
