These cards will only trigger apart from the normal sally forth provided by research.  In the case of short battles, there may not be enough time for the card's sally forth to trigger, in which case the card will not be used and will remain in play.  We apologize for any frustration this may cause and hope that you continue to enjoy Stronghold Kingdoms.
